The boat is of raised fo'c'sle design, with round bottom and bulbous bow. Built entirely of steel, she has a raked stem and square stern with a CVK running the full length.
The hull is longitudinally framed with webs on five foot centers and longitudinals on sixteen inch centers.
Four transverse bulkheads divide the boat into five compartments. There are two longitudinal bulkheads running from the forward transverse bulkhead to the stern and 10' from the centerline, forming four baffled tanks down each side of the vessel.
There are 3 openings in the deck measuring 8' x 8' and 11 access hatches to the wing tanks and lazarette.
